Welcome to Mokoia School, a warm and inviting place for your children to learn. Nestled in the heart of South Taranaki, we are a small rural school that fosters strong family-like relationships between children, staff, and whanau.
Our team of committed educators focus on what matters in young lives, allowing your child to learn and thrive through active and experiential learning, providing a wide range of educational experiences. We are proud to provide an education that is tailored to your child’s individual needs and personality, encouraging them to become their best unique self.
Mā te whiritahi, ka whakatutuki ai ngā pūmanawa ā tāngata.
Together weaving the realisation of potential.
Mokoia School caters for children from years 0-6. We are situated on SH3, less than 10kms from Hawera.
Our school grounds feature a lovely brick building with two well presented classrooms. Attached is a well stocked library. There are tennis courts, two swimming pools, a maypole, swings and two adventure playgrounds, set in attractive gardens. The school is designed to provide extra challenges and enjoyment for all our learners.
Our fantastic teachers cater for each child’s learning needs. The Board of Trustees and support staff work hard to ensure that all children are able to progress. They also ensure the school is well resourced. Transport areas are from the Ohangai and Whakamara areas.
We believe that as a small country school we can offer your child that
extra dimension to their learning programme. Here are some of the
benefits we offer our students:
◆ Ability to cater for your child’s individual needs.
◆ Quality programmes especially in literacy and mathematics.
◆ High standards expected of our FLAME children.
◆ Varied opportunities we offer in sport, oral language and technology.
◆ Emphasis on outdoor & environmental education programmes.

Your support and involvement is important to us and your child. As
part of our school learning community we would invite you to:
◆ visit the school to view the classroom programmes in action.
◆ discuss your child’s progress regularly with the teachers.
◆ join in with the school activities offered.
◆ attend working-bees.
◆ help your child to become independent by supporting
home learning.
A group of parents meets to plan activities which help raise funds for
extra facilities and educational activities for the children. Some of the
many things these funds have bought are our school uniforms, playground equipment, sound system, swimming lessons and supported
our camps. You are invited to join in and help our committee plan
fundraising events.
Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the monthly meetings and consider becoming involved in the school by being a Board
Member. Please contact the school office for more information.
Parents and caregivers can view our school policies and procedures at the
